BEFORE YOU GET A PUPPY!

How to get ready for a new puppy… physically and psychologically in 10 simple steps…

Have you never owned a puppy before? Or is it now so long you don’t remember what it feels like? Let us remind you…

STEP 1)

Spill cold water on your carpet and run through it in the dark – BAREFOOT!

STEP 2)

Straight after you wake up go outside, stand in the rain and repeat saying “Good boy/girl, please be quick”. But the quick part never comes.

STEP 3)

Cover your best clothes in the dog’s hair. Make sure you cover your light colour clothes in the dark hair and your dark clothes in the white hair and leave a few hairs to go for a swim in your morning coffee.

STEP 4)

Play with a wet and slobbery tennis ball. Make sure it rolls over your face a couple of times.

STEP 5)

Go and throw your clean ironed clothes on the floor throughout your house. Collecting them will be your new favourite game.

STEP 6)

Jump off the sofa just before your favourite tv programme ends and run to the front door shouting…  “No! No! Please do it outside!” But it’s too late… now you’ve just missed the end of the programme!

STEP 7)

Leave your dirty underwear on the floor in the living room, your dog will bring it anyway especially when you have visitors over.

STEP 8)

Go ahead and damage the legs of your dining table, it will be your puppy’s favourite chew toy soon.

STEP 9)

When you go for a walk, make sure you get as wet and muddy as possible. Soon it will be your favourite daily routine.

STEP 10)

Go and hug your warm, freshly tumble dried blanket and forget all of the above :)

Now you are ready for a new puppy in your life. Please let us know, which of the above are your dog’s favourite. Is there anything else you wished you were ready for before you got yourself a puppy?
